That's right, I'm changing my Plain Jane name to avoid medical errors. It sounds silly doesn't it? My name is basically "Lisa Smith" or "Emily Johnson" it's one of those names EVERYONE seems to have. I have had people pull the wrong charts and say "Well you don't seem to be 50 years old, are you?" or "Hmmm, are you with child?"
This is a fairly commonplace thing that happens to me, so much so that I now recite my FULL name and DOB whenever I'm taken back to a Doctor's office by a staff member or physician. Just to make sure I see them double check the chart. Thankfully my fiancé's name is much more rare, and I hopefully won't deal with this issue again, although now I will be forced to spell my name.
So my reason may not be as romantic or political as some other people, but it's practical for me nonetheless. Do you have any offbeat reasons you're changing your name? Or any reasons why you're not?

actually that is a pretty good reason to change your name! i don't really have a reason, other than I like his better than mine. haha.
That's actually really smart!!! Everyone has their own reasons and I find most are more superficial and less "romantic" etc.

@Penga I think so too! Since I'm just starting out my career it's easiest now.
@KJPugs You're right, there's always a bit of practicality in any decision. :o)
