But then she went off the beaten path to Maya Palace in Tucson... this is a very, how shall I put it nicely... "eclectic store" and some of the outfits are straight out of Madonna and the 80s, some even scream halloween. But our Mother of the Groom found the most amazing outfit. Down to shoes, jewelry, and clutch...

Stunning AND sophisticated! When she came out in this her 3 year old very girly grand daughter said her nickname with awe: "Buuuuubuuuu, pwetty" And that my friends solves that. A beautiful gown in an unexpected place.
Did you venture off the beaten path when looking for outfits for your Mothers?

What a great dress - love the colour and the shoes are great! I wasn't really involved in the search for the moms' dresses, but my mom probably spent more time looking for her evening dress than I did for my dress!
Aww your MIL looks soo happy in her dress...FIs mom got her dress on her own and loves it....the downside..FI HATES it! He's tried to put it to her delicately, but she doesn't take hints well...I myself am not too fond of the dress, but it's her style and is she is happy in it I am happy for her how can we shoot her down :)
The dress she chose looks great on her :)
Also, I LOVE that first dress! Does it only come in that one color?
@loveisyouloveisus it's a touchy subject. I have a looong post about how this dress made my Mother feel. It is our Mothers' Day too so I was just excited I got to share in her excitement at finding the dress!
@Amerdawn Unforunately yes it only comes in that dark burgundy almost brown "Wine" color. Glad you like my FMIL's Dress!
I do love that purple dress, it's such a vibrant color and it looks beautiful! I agree, there's lots of acronyms when it comes to weddings, haha!
