I am, however, one of those people who receives this comment FAR too frequently "She's so much prettier in person".Thatsnotacomplimentthankyouverymuch!?!?! I have read and researched methods to correct my un-photogenic ways. Tips to look better and more natural in photos seem to work for others. Penga had a great post on just this.... but did it work for me? Of course it didn't. Case in point...
Personal Photo from my Friend Laura's Wedding
Seriously? WTF is up with my face?! I totally ruined this awesome funny photo. Or I made it funnier. But I wasn't mad or concerned, that's just what happens to my face around cameras. I just kinda scrunch up and become awkward. Cameras basically stress me out, and the only thing that helps...
Personal Photo: Me on the Right
Do you have any photography secret weapons? Please tell me I'm not the only not-photogenic person here? Seriously?
*I sincerely recommend this movie. It was really glossed over in 2001, but it's about how record companies are trying to brainwash the youth of America through rock and roll music. Hilarious.
**My running joke for this canned Champagne is: "It's like a CapriSun for Adults!" I feel like this tagline will catch on soon.

haha, love it! i think that's a great secret weapon for natural, relaxed looking photos. :) and i loved josie and the pussycats! ahh, nostalgia~
I have the opposite effect...once the booze hits I get the stupid drunk grin where I smile so big you can see all my teeth....my FI is really worried about wedding photos though...he HATES how he photographs and is one of those people that looks better in person apparently. I think he looks fine in photos, but he is the true judge. I don't have many tips for ya except to pose in the mirror and figure out your best angles and poses :)
I kinda have the opposite problem. When I drink I smile way too much then out come my huge horse teeth & my eyes go all Renee Zellweger. So I try to consciously keep my eyes open and end up looking like the crazy lady cuz my eyes are wide open. :(
One trick I've learned is to ask your photog to take a lot of pictures slightly above your eye level, for some reason when the camera points down a bit it always makes everyone look awesome.
P.S. - I HEART Sofia cans. They freakin rule! We thought about having them at the wedding but they can be pricey. Maybe just for the girls while we get ready?! ;)
I wish I could help but I cringe when I see myself in pictures. I do think you look cute in the ones you posted so don't be so hard on yourself! I love the Sofia cans, too.
Oh and you new look here is super fab! Have a great weekend!
Great post! That Sofia can looks tasty :-)
I wish I had some useful advice for you, but I usually struggle with how I look in pictures. One of my friends has a specific pose/smile/look that she has perfected over the years. It always works! I am lucky that my photographer was able to capture my best sides!! good luck!
