Yup that covers it. So shopping for/with/about the Mother of the Bride, heretofore known as MoB, is quite the challenge. In fact it was only YESTERDAY (38 days until the wedding) that she started looking for an outfit. It takes a lot of build up to get her to go trying things on, which she know she will dislike. Here are two contenders that she bought, just in case she likes either....
Now she loves red, but this is a bit too big on her. I don't believe the shape of this dress will take to altering easily or well... which is sad because she LOVES red.
Contender number two, which really doesn't look like much of a hit.... let's see it with the matching jacket.
Somehow adding that jacket really makes the dress look amazing, I don't know how and I certainly don't know why. I'm not a fashionista but clearly my MoB is. So right now I'm leaning towards #2 and I think MoB is leaning towards another shopping trip. Cross your fingers that she will find something!
Did your MoB or MoG have difficulty finding their dress? What are your tips for my Mother of the Bride?

Ooh, you're so right - the jacket really adds something. But then you have to think, will she really want to keep the jacket on the entire time? But it definitely added some sass to it.
I do like the jacket. It's good to get a "backup" though so I say get it.
My Mom's having a really hard time. She doesn't like ANYTHING she can find. She's a lot older than most moms and she's also a size 22w which makes it even harder. Now she's talking about a chiffon skirt and having a jacket made - there's like 55 days left, I'm just sayin'.
@Dancy I know what you mean, some of these "Mother of the Bride" dresses just aren't flattering, and it's a big deal what they wear- so I can appreciate how much time it takes. I'm just glad we have outfits now just in case! :o)
bummer the second one couldn't come in red, then it would have been even better! good luck on the next shopping trip if you go for it!
