Some may argue that things like Bridal Showers or Bachelorettes in which the soon-to-be-bride is at the center of attention and is asked to open package after package of unmentionables, or drink X number of shots, or do X number of things on a list is in fact hazing. If it makes you feel upset and you would rather not do it, look at it this way, it's hard to break traditions or "rites of passage.".. but in the future you will feel better knowing that you said no and hopefully make it that much easier for your future daughter to say no.
Hear me out, I'm not saying that a fun little bridal shower in which people get you things you would like is hazing. Or even that a bachelorette party is hazing. But from the experiences of some of my friends... the experience can get a little out of hand. So in order to head off Bridal Hazing at the pass, I've decided to forgo the traditional Bachelorette or Bridal Showers. Thankfully Offbeat Bride had a good article on how to break the Penis-Cake Free Bachelorette to your bridesmaids. In place of a Bachelorette or Bridal Shower I'll suggest:
An Engagement Party/Wedding Shower at our favorite sushi place. You guessed it: Sushi Eye!
I'm also sweetly suggesting to my bridesmaids instead of a Bachelorette we all go up to Sedona a day or two early and enjoy the spa (read: Bachelorette sans Penis Cake)!
So anyone else forgoing the makes-you-cringe-more-than-blush traditions?
