Veil

So very exciting news to share, another thing I got for my birthday this week was a gorgeous hand-sewn custom veil from my Future Sister in Law/Photographer! And I have some pictures to show off! Today is my 2nd dress fitting and I fully intend on taking many pictures of me in the dress/veil/shoes/and earrings so you can get a full sneak peek! 

But for now, more veil teaser...

Right now it's sitting in the scary wedding closet de-wrinkling. But later today it's going to be on my head! I can already feel more bridal! What attire or accessory completed your "bridal look" and made you feel like a real bride?

Custom Veil Sneak Peek

Well a while back I mentioned that FSIL/Photographer was also going to sew my custom dress-lace onto my veil? Well she just pinned it all so we could play with it at the hair trial. So here's some teaser pictures as it's not yet completed. Please excuse the faces as the only photos I have of the veil involve my Big-Texas-Hair, so the look of being uncomfortable is more a result of that than of my beautiful veil.

Are you so excited or what?! It's going to match the scalloped edging of my gown so well! As you get closer to completing your DIY adventures what really excites you? Is anyone else making their own Mantilla veil?

Veil + Hair Flower

Last night I had an intense debate with MOH of DOOOM who insisted I could rock both my hair flower and veil for the ceremony and then simply nix the veil for the reception. I wanted to share with you ways to do this, so I compiled some photos for some good old fashioned Saturday Wedding P0rn!

Well, I'm sold! I will be wearing my hair flower + veil combo. What do you think, are you going to rock two hair accessories?

Veiled Language

I don't particularly love the symbolism of  the blusher, but the first time I tried a veil on with The Dress I felt like a Bride. In fact the first time I tried on a veil with the dress my mother said something that was perfectly my mother..."Well do you have a veil with the same kind of lace as this gown?" to which the sales clerk smiled and said that would be something custom we would need to do ourselves/have done.

So when I got back to the Valley of the Sun, I booked an appointment to try on and hopefully buy the gown (which you now know happened here) with my FSIL. Well imagine my shock when FSIL saw me in the gown and looked down at the scalloped edged lace and made her thinking face...for roughly a minute....

What she said next would change my Bridal Life... she asked the Bridal Consultant "Is there any way we can order the scalloped edge lace from the bottom of this dress?" The Bridal Consultant looked at her and diligently wrote down her request and informed us she would get back to us on Monday when she called the manufacturer.  FSIL turned to me and said "I'd like to make a veil with that lace as the edging." I did my best not to cry, FSIL is an amazing artist, teacher, and our photographer. I told her it was too much and she said "No, you have to have it, it would be perfect."

Just imagine that beautiful edging detail on my finger-tip length veil. I can't even imagine! Two days later I got the much anticipated call "Yes Midgely and Sottero will sell you the lace, it's $20/yd." So I jumped on the phone to call FSIL who announced she needed 5 yards and would be making a wristlet/clutch as well. I swear I almost fainted and jumped at the same time. I am overwhelmed at her sincerity and excitement for our day. Is anyone else having an exciting/hard time dealing with the tremendous love not just for their SO but for their family and Future Family in Law as well?
