Don't get me wrong, I think they're classic and timeless. They're beautiful and chic! They're all those things about weddings one loves... but seriously come with a not so nice price tag for the quality I'd want. SO I thought to myself, no biggie I don't need one. Until my mother called and asked what kind of pearl necklace I'd be wearing to which I replied "I don't have one." You would have thought I told my mom I was going to die....
She promptly called one of her airline friends who was going to China and had her order me one special. The nice thing about your family being in the airline industry is someone is always going somewhere exotic with beautiful jewelry for a cheaper price than you'd find in the states. My mom got a necklace from the same friend which appraised for over a thousand dollars (FYI it cost about $100 after )
Did you have a pearl necklace-free wedding? Or did get or were you gifted pearls?

gifted! and you're totally right about getting jewelry on the cheap out of the country. markup can be crazy!
I love pearls. I was gifted a long strand by my mom when I graduated from HS. I'm planning on wearing it as a bracelet.
@Penga Gifted is always the best! I <3 jewelry from out of the country!
@MERgetsMRSed That's awesome, I love the idea of you wearing it as a bracelet, very hot and still very bridal :o)
I think my mom feels the same way. She keeps suggesting pearls whenever I talk about wedding jewelry at all. I love my mom, but I'm definitely not wearing pearls. I've worn pearls for a whole host of other occasions and this is the one where I want to do my own thing.
I am TOTALLY wearing pearls with "our" dress! They will not be real pearls, but pearls none-the-less! :) I am getting champagne pearls - I think they will totally compliment our dress!
