1) Heat
2) Heat
3) Oh yah, an August wedding in Northern Arizona.... but its still in Arizona so HEAT!
You might say we were worried about the heat... but honestly another practical concern arose... MONSOON SEASON! For those bees who are unaware of what Monsoon season means in Arizona, let me give you my brief non-meteorological version. For about 3 months, we Arizonans live in fear of the rain. Thankfully we do not get it often, but when we do it can be brief and passing or torrential down pour which one would think does not happen in the desert.
Our questions to the wedding coordinator were all of these and more. But low and behold- they have a back up plan and only book one reception an evening to make sure they can accommodate us if indeed we do get torrential rain. The backup plan is unfortunately a ballroom, which my fiance and I loathe, but it overlooks the patios and has a terrace we can step out on and view Cathedral Rock (a famous red rock here in Arizona... but more on that in a later post).
So which will we, the practical couple, choose?
Terrace- has lovely views of the red rocks BUT is in the sunshine all day
Patio Del Norte- you can see all the art shops in this patio BUT it is a bit crowded
Calle de Independencia- it looks like a beautiful street in Spain BUT you can see large cement baracades ans it really is a street
Patio De Las Campanas- it has lush ivy covering all the walls BUT that could fall any day
Stay tuned to find out which if any patio we choose....
